The Musée Galliera is housed in the 19th century Renaissance style palace that was owned by the Duchesse Galliera, who had the mansion built in 1888 and when she died, she donated the palace to the City of Paris.
This museum is also known as the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, and is a museum dedicated to fashion and the history of costume and was officially opened in 1977 so that it could bring back to life the history of fashion and costume from the 18th century to today.
