Ms. Belinda McGuire has a wealth of experience, which has resulted in a unique and distinctive perspective of the fashion industry. From bridal designs to her own fashion line, she is a nationally recognized couturier, whose work has been on exhibit at the National Black Fashion Museum, in New York City. Her professional affiliations also include Vice President, Eastern Region, of the National Association of Fashion and Accessory Designers (NAFAD). The region includes Philadelphia, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland. The organization offers professional networking and mentoring for its members.
Ms. McGuire started her label “LenGuire Fashions” in 1977, now specializing in award-winning bridal and evening wear, has been an educator, for the Newark Public Schools, with 30 years of experience and has been a tireless advocate for fashion careers education. She has led a national campaign to include comprehensive fashion careers programming within the public school system at the high school level. In 2001 she co-authored the Fashion Design Clothing and Construction curriculum for Newark Public Schools, and began teaching the curriculum that same year at West Side High school. In 2007, she singularly re-wrote the curriculum, making it all-inclusive and naming it a Fashion Careers curriculum. She has been recognized and awarded Her experience has resulted in a distinctive and holistic perspective of the fashion industry, offering insights of great value to the program’s alumni demonstrated by continued contact.
Endeavoring to take fashion education to the next level in Newark, Ms. McGuire was awarded a master’s in Education Administration and Organizational Leadership in May of 2009. She was inducted into the International Honor Society for Education Kappa Delta Pi.She was awarded an 2013 “Excellence in Education” by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, the “Titan Award” from Fashion Avenue News Magazine 2013.Using her contacts, she has formed a Fashion Advisory Board as a think tank seeking viable solutions to inclusion of minorities in the mainstream of the fashion industry.

Belinda earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1977, from Seton Hall University. Completed the Small Business Program at Fashion Institute of Technology and is a part of the Continuing Education Program; earned a Certificate of Completion in Creative Dressmaking and Fashion Illustration from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts in 1981; became a Licensed Real Estate Associate in 1987 and a Licensed Insurance Agent in 1995; in 2009, she graduated with a Master degree from Grand Canyon University in Education Administration and Organization Leadership.
