LIF Fall/Winter 2013 Fashion Institute @ Berkeley College

The LenGuire Institute of Fashions continues its work educating middle and high school students. Our youth from Newark and Irvington are taking full advantage of our small class setting. Learning in a collegiate atmosphere gives them a more mature look at school. Students are becoming familiar with industry terminologies, learning to do estimations, read charts, add factions with uncommon denominators, identify machine parts, use critical thinking to solve machine operation problems, become familiar with machine safety, as well as identify the correct thread, needle and stitches per inch for different types of fabric. They also learned to sew straight and circular lines patterns in preparation for sewing their project. This is a testiment to their level on interest and commitment all done in 2 weeks.
Everyone is allowed to work at their own pace. For this reason, we are able to accept new students at any time. Other classes being offered are jewelry making, knitting and crocheting, fabric Painting and preparation for Jobs in retail.
